Camps Bay
Tourist Information:
Past the city centre, beyond Lions Head, the Atlantic Seaboard suburbs hug the narrow stretch of coast between the Atlantic Ocean and the towering Twelve Apostles mountain range. Camps Bays palm-lined beachfront has a permanent holiday atmosphere with its many coffee shops, cafés and restaurants.

Major Attractions:
Bellsfontein Kramat. An Islamic shrine to Moslem holy man, Nureelmobeen.
Pipe Track. A walk starting at Kloofnek, offering sweeping views of Camps Bay.
Round House. Kloof Rd, Camps Bay. Originally built as a hunting lodge for Lord Charles Somerset, a 19th century governor of the Cape. Today, the building houses a restaurant offering panoramic views over Camps Bay. Tel 438 2320.

The Great Outdoors:
Beach. The back of Table Mountain, the cableway and the Twelve Apostles form a backdrop to this spacious family beach. The surf is strong and there is no resident lifeguard, but a rescue helicopter patrols regularly. The grass verge flanked by the tidal pool offers shady, wind-free barbecue (braai) spots. The beach is exposed to the wind and unsuitable for paddleskiers and surfers. Shops, restaurants, a hotel, chemist, banks and police station are close to the beach. Follow Victoria Rd from Sea Point past Clifton.
